In “My Private Biopolitics”, Saša Asentic (originally from Novi sad, Serbia) challenges the Western European Monopoly concerning the definition of contemporary dance. Asentić interprets and recycles part of the choreography “L’Après-Midi d’un Faune” by Nijinsky, and works by Jérôme Bel and Xavier Le Roy (both presented at Festival Complicitats), in an attempt to define contemporary dance from the South and East Europe, beyond folklore, classical dance and the predominant centralism imposed by dance from Northern Europe.
